I started my career in property in 2006 when I worked as a Lettings Negotiator for an East London estate agency, where I qualified with both ARLA and NAEA. In 2010 I moved to Norbury to take up a role as Senior Branch Manager for a well-established competitor. It was during this time that the seeds were sown for Heaven Estate Agents. I enjoyed the work I did and was rather good at helping the community get on, and move along the property ladder, so I took the plunge and Heaven Estate Agents was born in 2014.
Initially, based on Mitcham Lane, I opened a new office on London Road in Norbury in 2018, and I hired a Sales and Lettings Manager (Paul) in 2019 to help grow the business and support our tenants and landlords. Since then, I have continued to focus on delivering a boutique, highly personalised approach to estate agency. My key focus is to provide a high level of service in my community and across South London, offering a level of competition from the more established national agents. As the founder of Heaven Estate Agents, it is my responsibility to ensure the smooth running of the business – from sales, lettings and property management, to introducing innovations such as the Guaranteed Rent scheme where we take the headache out of lettings for landlords. I also oversee marketing activity, so I can get the message out there about why we are different from other estate agencies.
Paul Courtney
Sales and Lettings Manager
Having worked in sales for many years, I moved into the Norbury property market in 2014 as a Senior Sales Negotiator for an established competitor. I soon became the company’s top Salesperson in 2015.
At Heaven Estate Agents, it’s my role to manage the sales process, from valuation to completion, ensuring that it goes as smoothly as possible. I pride myself on being proactive, honest and approachable and able to negotiate the best price for my clients. I start my day by reaching out to any sales, rental, tenant or landlord enquiries; this includes arranging viewing and valuation appointments and ensuring landlords and vendors are kept up-to-date on the progress of the sale or letting of their property.
I’ve lived in Norbury and the surrounding area all my life, so my local knowledge is second to none. Outside of work, I’m a Crystal Palace season ticket holder and can often be found at Selhurst Park on a Saturday afternoon cheering on our local team.

What were you doing before Heaven Estate Agent and how did you join us?
I worked as a Recruitment Consultant, specialising in sourcing, screening, and matching candidates to client vacancies using advanced search techniques. I built and maintained strong relationships with clients and candidates, providing a consultative approach to ensure the right talent matched the clients requirements.
Where did you start and where are you now?
I started off as an Admin Officer, supporting the team with day-to-day operations and ensuring the smooth running of the office. Over time, I developed a strong understanding of the property process and built confidence in handling client enquiries. This progression led me to my current role as a Lettings Negotiator, where I now take a more active role in managing properties, liaising with landlords and tenants, and guiding clients through the letting process.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
My favourite part of being a Lettings Negotiator is the opportunity to help people find a home that genuinely suits their needs. I enjoy building relationships with both landlords and tenants, offering guidance, and making the process as smooth and stress free as possible. I also like the fast-paced nature of the role. Every day is different, and it allows me to stay organised, proactive, and solution focused while continuing to learn and grow within the industry.
What advice would you give to somebody looking to get into the industry?
My advice for anyone looking to get into the estate agency industry is to be proactive, confident, and willing to learn. The job is fast-paced and people focused, so good communication skills and a positive attitude go a long way. Start by gaining basic administrative or customer service experience to build a strong foundation, and do not be afraid to ask questions or take on new tasks. Most importantly, staying motivated and resilient is key. Property can be challenging at times, but it is a rewarding career for those who enjoy helping people and working in a dynamic environment.
